How to update bank account details in EPF account

Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) members should ensure that their bank account details are up-to-date, correct, and the account is active. If the mentioned bank account number in the EPF account is closed or inactive, then there can be a delay when you apply for withdrawal claims. Incorrect details can lead to failure of credit of EPF amount as well.

As part of its digital services, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows subscribers to update their contact information online. Account holders must have their Universal Account Number (UAN) handy to access this service. The UAN will serve as a single point for the various Member IDs that have been assigned to an individual by various organisations.

How to update bank account details in EPF records
Step 1: Visit https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ to access your account.
Step 2: Go to the Manage Tab and select the KYC option.
Step 3: Select Bank as the document type. Enter, name as per bank records, and IFSC, enter the right bank account number.
Step 4: Select ‘Save’ from the drop-down menu.

The data will appear under the ‘KYC Pending for Approval’ tab once they have been saved. Submit the documents to the employer. After the documents verification by employer. KYC pending for approval will change to ‘Digitally approved KYC’.

Remember that your employer must approve the bank account information before it can be changed in EPFO’s records. To expedite the procedure, the employee should request approval from his or her employer for the modification of bank account information in the EPFO’s records.

Members will also receive a confirmation message from EPFO, after successful verification of bank details by the employer.

According to the EPFO FAQs, these are the benefits of activating UAN, “Once the member has activated his/her UAN on the unified portal he can enjoy the following benefits: Download/Print your Updated Passbook anytime. Download/ Print your UAN Card. List all your Member IDs to UAN. File online transfer claim on OTCP Update your KYC information.”
